Europe

Europe

If you’re traveling for food, Europe is the ultimate gastronomic destination. While France thrives on its rich saucy cuisine, magnificent boulangeries and patisseries, Belgian is the place for bottled beers, moules et frites (mussels and fries).

In Europe, foods are protected by a PGI, or Protected Geographical Indication. This means that many cheeses, hams and spirits are actually named after the specific region of their production. Imagine planning a gourmet trip visiting places such as Gorgonzola (Milan), Parma, Bologna and Marsala, sampling the foods they gave their name to. They’re sure to taste even better on home soil!

Oenophiles should journey to Bordeaux, Burgundy and Saint-Emilion. These stunning areas are synonymous with their full-bodied wines and Grand Cru. Tour the chateaux wineries and learn about the prestigious appellations that carry their name and reputation.

Visit the French region of Champagne and sip locally produced champagne that is exported around the world. Other regions may produce sparkling wine, but only Champagne is allowed to label its authentic product by that name.

From Greek gyros to Swiss fondues and Hungarian goulash to German curry-wurst, Europe is a banquet of deliciousness.
