about this tour
about this tour
This tour introduces you to Peru’s key destinations by bringing together archaeological landmarks, long standing cultural practices, and historic cities in one carefully designed itinerary. You travel through the Sacred Valley, experience Machu Picchu, and take guided walking tours in Cusco and Lima, each offering a clear perspective on Peru’s past and present. In the Sacred Valley, you visit traditional markets, agricultural terraces, and important archaeological sites that demonstrate the engineering and organisation of the Inca civilisation. Places such as Pisac, Chinchero, and Ollantaytambo give you insight into Andean daily life, where weaving, farming, and community traditions continue to play a central role. A visit to Machu Picchu is a central part of your journey. Traveling by train and bus through mountain valleys, you reach the site to walk through temples, terraces, and ceremonial areas set within a dramatic natural setting. You also spend time in Cusco and Lima on guided walking tours. In both cities, you see colonial era architecture, open plazas, and key cultural sites that show how Peru’s ancient heritage connects with urban life. Throughout the tour, experienced guides provide context, while comfortable transport and time at leisure allow you to enjoy local food and crafts at your own pace. This itinerary gives you a well rounded introduction to Peru, combining landscapes, archaeological sites, and city experiences within this thoughtfully planned tour.

In the Sacred Valley of the Incas, you will take part in a hands-on experience with Peruvian locals, learning traditional Andean textile techniques using handwoven alpaca wool dyed with plants, minerals, and insects. You can explore the complex, browse textiles and crafts, and purchase souvenirs directly from the artisans, supporting the community and connecting with local culture. This experience also offers a chance to hear stories about daily life and traditions in the region.

Lima City TourThe tour begins at Huaca Pucllana, a large archaeological site in Miraflores, one of Lima’s most popular districts. This ceremonial and administrative center of the Lima culture developed on the Peruvian coast between 200 and 700 AD. The site consists of seven stepped platforms, a surrounding plaza, and high walls. It is an unexpected sight in the middle of modern Miraflores. From there, your bilingual guide will take you to the historic center of Lima, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. At the Plaza de Armas, the city’s main square, you will find important colonial and republican buildings with ornate wooden balconies. These include the Government Palace, the Cathedral of Lima, the Archbishop’s Palace, the Municipal Palace, and the Palace of the Union. You will then visit the Cathedral of Lima, completed in 1649. Inside are sculptures, paintings, and the tomb of Francisco Pizarro. A short walk away is the Santo Domingo Convent, founded in the 1530s. Its bell tower is a landmark, and its walls are decorated with Sevillian tiles dating from the early 1600s, along with paintings of Saint Dominic’s life. Finally, you will explore the Larco Museum, known for its outstanding pre-Columbian art, including ceramics, textiles, metalwork, and a unique collection of erotic pottery.

Upon arrival, your guide will be waiting to take you to the Sacred Valley. Along the way, you will stop in Chinchero, a small town in the Peruvian Andes where around 50 families continue to live from farming and textiles. Women are dedicated to weaving while men manage the agricultural work. The drive continues through the mountainous landscape, passing farms and small villages before reaching the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Sacred Valley Tour: Pisac and OllantaytamboYou will be picked up from your hotel in Urubamba at 09:00 and travel towards the Urubamba River and the town of Pisac. In Pisac, you will visit the traditional market, where local artisans sell textiles, pottery, and other crafts. Highlights include Inca carvings, altars, tunnels, and the Intihuatana, known as the “hitching post of the sun.” The visit lasts around 90 minutes, though you may choose to spend more time at the market instead and rejoin the group later. You will then continue to Urubamba, where you will stop for lunch (not included). Afterward, a short drive will bring you to Ollantaytambo, once the royal estate of Emperor Pachacuti. Cusco City Tour & Final DinnerYour Cusco city tour begins in the morning with a visit to the Koricancha, located next to the Santo Domingo Church. Chroniclers from the period after the Spanish conquest described the Koricancha as the most important temple of the Inca Empire. Its walls were once covered in gold, and statues of plants and animals made from precious metals decorated its halls. Although this wealth was taken by the conquistadors, the site remains remarkable. With your guide, you will learn details that are easy to miss without explanation. From here, you will continue to Cusco Cathedral on the Plaza de Armas. Built between 1560 and 1654 on the foundations of an Inca temple, the cathedral contains many works by Cusco School painters. The main altar and pulpit are decorated with gold and silver, and indigenous religious symbols can be found throughout, including a carved jaguar head on the doors. Next, you will visit the Inca fortress of Sacsayhuaman, set on a hill above Cusco. The immense stone walls here showcase precise Inca masonry and provide wide views across the city. The final stop is Tambomachay, known for its terraces, aqueducts, and canals, before returning to Cusco and your hotel. Head to the Tunupa restaurant, located just the central Plaza de Armas of Cusco, and get ready for a buffet dinner. There is a large selection of typical dishes, meat, fish, vegetables, and desserts. The night is more enjoyable when the traditional dance show begins and you can get involved with the folk, traditional, and classical music. If you wish, you can also share the dance floor with the dancers and take part in a great experience.
