about this tour

A cultural tour that connects travelers with Ghana’s heritage through authentic interactions with its people, traditions, and important sites. Over ten days, this guided tour travels from Accra through historic Cape Coast and Elmina to the Ashanti heartland of Kumasi, giving participants the chance to understand the country’s history and contemporary life in context. Moving south to Cape Coast and Elmina, the itinerary includes visits to the Cape Coast Castle and Elmina Castle, both significant sites in the transatlantic slave trade and important places for reflection and learning. The journey also includes a visit to Assin Manso, where travelers can pause at the ancestral slave river site and consider its place in the story of African dispersal. In Kumasi, experiences focus on the legacy of the Ashanti kingdom and contemporary culture, with tours of the Centre for National Culture and opportunities to meet artisans and see traditional crafts, from bead making to local weaving. Along the way, the tour incorporates Ghana’s natural landscapes with stops at waterfalls and forested areas, artisan workshops, and markets where skills and craftsmanship are visible. A meaningful component of the experience is participation in a naming ceremony that celebrates Ghanaian identity and continuity. Designed for those who want to reconnect with African roots and build cross-cultural understanding, this tour offers moments of learning, engagement, and personal connection to Ghana's people.
