about this tour

about this tour

This Costa Rican journey centers on the connection between people, place, and environment across different regions of Costa Rica. In San José, architectural detail and daily life reflect the blend of political, artistic, and social influences that shape the country. Cartago offers a quieter setting, where stone ruins sit near the Irazú Volcano. The contrast between the remains of colonial structures and volcanic terrain speaks to the forces that have shaped this region. In Turrialba, forested hills surround archaeological sites tied to early settlement. Sustainable agriculture plays a key role here, with pineapple farming offering a clear example of production aligned with the landscape. The eastern lowlands lead to an indigenous territory where knowledge of chocolate-making, plant medicine, and local food continues to guide daily life. A shared cooking experience highlights methods shaped by land and tradition. Near Arenal Volcano, wetlands provide space for close observation of flora and fauna during a quiet boat ride through the water’s edge. In Monteverde, cloud forests offer a cool, mist-covered environment, where conservation efforts and species protection remain ongoing. The Tamarindo coastline brings the tour to the sea, where time can be spent along the shore, shaped by tides, wind, and changing light. Each region offers a different way of living, rooted in place and shaped by both natural and cultural forces.
