It became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and has over 700 monuments dating back to the Almohad and the Hafsid periods of Tunisian history. You are going to visit the historic Bardo Museum (closed Monday), which houses the largest exhibition of mosaics in the world , the Ezzitouna University and Tunis Medina, the center of the old town, filled with souks and local shops. Lunch will be at the Dar El Jeld Restaurant, a top quality local restaurant. After lunch you’ll travel to Carthage, a historical city of the Phoenician Republic. This city fought a series of wars against Rome that ultimately lead to its destruction. From Carthage you will travel on to Kairoaun for the overnight stay.

As with other amphitheaters in the Roman Empire, it was built for spectator events, and it is one of the biggest amphitheaters in the world. You will be transferred on to Sousse to your hotel.
