This 10-day Tunisian adventure weaves together history, culture, and stunning landscapes, showcasing the country’s diverse highlights. Starting in the coastal town of Sidi Bou Said, known for its blue-and-white architecture and scenic views, the journey continues with visits to Carthage’s ancient ruins and the medina of Tunis. The Bardo Museum, famous for its remarkable mosaic collection, offers a glimpse into Tunisia’s rich artistic past. In Kairouan, explore one of Islam’s most significant cities, renowned for its mosques and traditional craftsmanship. The tour moves into the desert, where you can discover the mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza, the cinematic setting of Ong Jamal, and experience life in the Berber cave dwellings of Matmata. Roman history comes alive at the amphitheater of El Jem, one of the best-preserved of its kind. Culinary experiences and cultural interactions, from date harvesting in the oasis to olive picking in the countryside, enhance the trip’s authenticity.     Tunis – Carthage – Kairouan

    After breakfast, you will visit The Old Medina souks (ancient city) of Tunis and local sights. The area is filled with charming domestic architecture, narrow streets, picturesque souks (markets), mosques, and historic structures. It became an UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979 and has over 700 monuments dating back to the Almohad and the Hafsid periods of Tunisian history. You are going to visit the historic Bardo Museum (closed Monday), which houses the largest exhibition of mosaics in the world , the Ezzitouna University and Tunis Medina, the center of the old town, filled with souks and local shops. Lunch will be at the Dar El Jeld Restaurant, a top quality local restaurant. After lunch you’ll travel to Carthage, a historical city of the Phoenician Republic. This city fought a series of wars against Rome that ultimately lead to its destruction. From Carthage you will travel on to Kairoaun for the overnight stay.

    Kairouan to Tozeur

    After breakfast you’ll visit Kairouan, the oldest Muslim city in the Maghreb. It is "the city with three hundred mosques", the fourth most holy city of Islam. It is also famous for its carpet manufacturing. After lunch at Dar Abderrahmene Zarrouk in Kairouan, you will depart for Tozeur; famed for its oasis and international filming. Once you have checked in to your hotel, the remainder of the day is yours at leisure.

    Tozeur - Chebika - Tamerza - Ong Ejmel Desert Filmset

    After breakfast you’ll depart by 4x4 to visit Chebika and Tamerza for a half day hike. Tamerza is one of the most beautiful mountain oases. The cooling waters of the oasis are perfect during the heat. Lunch will be at the Eden Palm Restaurant, where you can assist in the preparation of lunch. You will visit the Eden Palm Dates museum, and its vast history of dates and palm trees grown in the oasis. In the afternoon there is a trip to Ong Jamal, famously the setting for the Star Wars films, as well as Raiders of the Lost Ark. The English Patient was also filmed nearby. In the evening, you will join a traditional show and dinner in a royal Berber Tent at Douar El Hafsi in Tozeur.

    Douz and Chott el Jerid

    Start the morning with a horse-drawn carriage ride to Tozeur’s oasis for breakfast under palm trees, followed by participating in a date harvest (seasonal). From January to August, a local guide will explain the annual work in the oasis, with opportunities to participate in harvests like oranges, strawberries, or grapes in the north. Next, visit a local brick-making workshop unique to Tozeur. Afterward, travel through the salt-flat basin of Chott El Jerid, then stop in Douz for an optional camel ride and lunch at a local restaurant. Continue by jeep to the stunning Timbaine area, ending the day with dinner and an overnight stay in tents at Mars desert camp.

    Matmata - El Jem - Sousse

    After breakfast at the camp, you will be transferred to Matmata a small Berber speaking town in southern Tunisia. Some of the local Berber residents live in traditional underground "troglodyte" structures. Here you will have the opportunity to visit a local berber family and troglodyte cave dwelling. Lunch will be in Sfax at the Dar Dhaifa. After this continue to El Jem to visit the Coliseum of El Jem. It is one of the best preserved Roman stone ruins in the world, and is unique in Africa. As with other amphitheaters in the Roman Empire, it was built for spectator events, and it is one of the biggest amphitheaters in the world. You will be transferred on to Sousse to your hotel.

    Takrouna - Enfida - Hammamet

    After check-out from the hotel, you will head to Enfidha and continue to Jradou by4x4 jeep. Once you arrive, you’ll visit Takrouna which is a small Berber village near Enfida. As soon as you leave this city you can see the rocky peak, overlooking the valley in the centre of the fertile Sahel region. The stone houses, whitewashed, low vaulted roofs, wrap around the top of this high promontory. Afterwards, departure to Hammamet and visit its city center.

    Sidi Jedidi

    Start the day in your fabulous hotel in Hammamet! Meet with your local guide and drive to Sidi Jedidi. After stopping at Douar Laroussi you will participate in an olive-picking competition (*Oct to Jan) and harissa manufacture where you’ll be offered a taste of the traditional handmade bread of Sidi Jedidi Tabouna with seasonal olive oil. While in Douar Laroussi, you’ll learn about local spices and how to recognize them, slalom a goat herd, assemble and disassemble a typical Berber tent, prepare typical bread and camel schooling.
