    Arrival in Ethiopia

    Upon arrival in Addis, our representative will meet you at the airport and take you to your hotel. After breakfast, begin your day with a visit to the National Museum of Ethiopia, where you’ll discover the country's ancient history and learn about Lucy, the earliest known human ancestor. Next, head to the Ethnological Museum, housed in Haile Selassie’s former palace and surrounded by the scenic gardens and fountains of Addis Ababa University. Even if museums aren’t typically your thing, this one is worth a visit—it’s widely regarded as one of the best in Africa. Before lunch, stop by the Holy Trinity Cathedral, known for its distinct architectural style. After a leisurely lunch, drive up to the Entoto Mountains, offering the best panoramic views of the city. This historical site was once home to Menelik II, who built his palace here. It is also home to several important churches, including Saint Mary’s Church. On the way back, pass through Piazza and visit St. George’s Church before returning to your hotel.

    Lake Hawassa

    The morning begins at Lake Hawassa’s local fish market, providing a glimpse into daily life with a variety of fresh fish, including an Ethiopian-style “sushi.” The area is also home to numerous aquatic birds. The journey continues toward Langano, passing tame ostriches before reaching Shalla, the deepest lake in the Rift Valley. Along the way, stop at natural hot springs and visit Abijata Lake, where the shores are painted pink by flocks of lesser and greater flamingos. Upon arrival at Lake Langano, located 220 kilometers south of Addis Ababa, take in the contrast of its soft brown waters against the towering 4,000-meter-high Arsi Mountains.     After a relaxed morning at Lake Langano, begin the return journey to Addis Ababa with a stop at Lake Ziway to observe birdlife along the shoreline marshes. A boat ride around Tulu Simbero, or Bird Island in the local Oromiffa language, provides a closer look at nesting sites and local fishers navigating the waters on traditional reed boats. After a lunch break in Zeway, continue toward Addis Ababa, stopping at the scenic crater lakes of Debre Zeit (Bishoftu). The mountaintop lake, surrounded by dense forest and considered sacred, is home to diverse bird species and rich plant life, offering stunning views. Arriving in Addis Ababa by late afternoon, there will be time for souvenir shopping before concluding the journey with a drop-off at Bole International Airport for the flight home.
