    Full Day Museums & Tapas Tour

    In the morning, you will meet your private guide for a half day walking tour of Madrid’s renowned museums. The tour lasts three and a half hours and can include the Prado, Reina Sofía, Thyssen Bornemisza, or Sorolla Museum. Your visit begins at the Prado Museum, home to an extraordinary collection originally created for the Spanish monarchy. Opened to the public in 1819, the museum now houses more than 17,000 works. Among the highlights are pieces by Velázquez and Goya alongside masterpieces by Bosch, Rubens and Titian. The tour continues at the Reina Sofía, where you will see works by Dalí, Miró and Juan Gris. The centerpiece is Picasso’s Guernica, an immense canvas painted in 1937 that portrays the devastation of war. The building itself is striking, a former 18th century hospital expanded by French architect Jean Nouvel.     At 10am you will arrive at Madrid’s train station for the journey to Toledo through your own transportation. The train ride takes about one hour. All seats on this route are of the same standard, as no first class option is available. At 11am you will meet your private guide at Toledo’s train station for a three hour tour. Toledo, once the capital of Spain before Madrid, was home to important schools of science, mathematics, theology and translation, as well as traditions of mysticism and alchemy. Its narrow streets, stone houses and varied places of worship reflect its layered past. You may visit the Museum of El Greco, which houses many works by the artist who lived in the city. At the church of Santo Tomé you will see The Burial of the Count of Orgaz, one of his most admired paintings. The synagogue of Santa María la Blanca, built by Moorish craftsmen in the 12th century, offers a serene hall of white columns and arches. You will also see the Gothic cathedral with its collection of paintings, textiles and treasures, and the monastery of San Juan de los Reyes. The tour focuses on the period when Antoni Gaudí and his contemporaries reshaped the city during the Catalan Renaissance in arts and literature. You will start at the Sagrada Família, Gaudí’s unfinished masterpiece and one of Barcelona’s most recognized landmarks. The monument reflects the work of Gaudí alongside contributions from other architects, sculptors, painters and craftsmen who transformed the city at the time. You will then pass by Casa Milà, known as La Pedrera or “the quarry,” a stone building with flowing forms that houses private apartments. The tour concludes with an interior visit to Casa Batlló, originally built for a wealthy businessman. The building showcases Gaudí’s private work with imaginative shapes, bold colors and detailed craftsmanship. Food and drinks are not included. The show presents a range of flamenco styles, each expressing a distinct emotion. You will see Alegrías with long skirts and embroidered shawls, Fandangos with castanets, Guajira with fans, the solemn Soleá, the dramatic Taranto, sensual Tangos, and lively Bulerías. You may begin at Seville Cathedral, the largest Gothic structure in the world and the third largest church in Christendom. Inside is the disputed tomb of Christopher Columbus. You will also see the Cathedral’s 12th century bell tower, the Giralda, originally built as a minaret, though the tower is not included in the tour. Your visit continues at the Alcazar Palace, originally Moorish and later rebuilt by Mudéjar craftsmen for Christian royalty. Its design combines Moorish and European elements, with intricate tilework, marble floors, and patterned plaster. The palace is arranged around courtyards including Las Doncellas, used for official ceremonies, and Las Muñecas, a private retreat. The Ambassadors’ Hall is especially notable for its decoration. The drive to Granada takes about two hours and forty five minutes. At 3pm you will meet your expert guide for a private three and a half hour tour of the Alhambra and the gardens of the Generalife. The Alhambra is a vast complex of palaces, courtyards and fortifications built by the Nasrid dynasty. Its architecture and decorative details reflect the influence of the Moors in Spain. During your visit you will walk through the Moorish palaces, including the renowned Courtyard of the Lions, and learn how the Alhambra developed as both a defensive stronghold and a royal residence. You will then continue to the Generalife, the summer palace of the Nasrid rulers. The gardens were supplied by an extensive irrigation system that diverted the Darro River to create fertile orchards and green spaces for leisure. Built between the 13th and 14th centuries, the Generalife’s courtyards and terraces lie on the slopes of the Cerro del Sol, offering wide views of the surrounding landscape.
