about this tour

This family tour through Argentina blends city life, nature, and cultural traditions. In Buenos Aires, a cookery class introduces classic dishes like empanadas and dulce de leche. Walks through historic neighborhoods reveal street performers, markets, and tango music, creating a lively atmosphere. In San Antonio de Areco, the countryside showcases Argentina’s gaucho heritage. A visit to an estancia includes horseback riding, skilled demonstrations, and a traditional asado. Time slows down here, allowing appreciation for handcrafted silverwork and folk traditions. In El Calafate, the landscape shifts to towering glaciers and deep blue lakes. A glacier boat trip across Lake Argentino offers close views of the massive Perito Moreno Glacier, where icebergs break into the water. A guided hike on the ice provides an up-close look at this frozen wonder. In San Carlos de Bariloche, the Andean foothills set the stage for adventure. Kayaking on clear lakes offers peaceful views of the surrounding forests and peaks, while scenic trails lead to breathtaking overlooks. The journey ends with a yacht cruise with dinner on Nahuel Huapi Lake, where gourmet dining is paired with stunning sunset views over the mountains.

Buenos Aires Day Tour & Cooking Class

Start your first day in Buenos Aires by exploring its most distinctive districts, from political hubs to artistic enclaves and neighborhoods shaped by European influences. Begin at Plaza de Mayo, the city's historic and political core, before heading south to Parque Lezama and La Boca, where studios, galleries, and vividly painted houses line the streets. Continue to Plaza San Martín and Retiro, where the cityscape shifts from the informal charm of the south to the refined European architecture of the 19th century. End in Recoleta, known for its Parisian-style avenues and grand residences, with a visit to the world-famous Recoleta Cemetery, where Eva Perón is buried. Next, start in La Boca, home to the Boca Juniors football club. Legends like Maradona, Riquelme, and Batistuta played here, and the streets reflect the team’s devoted fan base. Walk through the area and visit the Museo de la Pasión Boquense, which celebrates the club’s history. Then, head north to Palermo to visit the Evita Museum. Perhaps Argentina’s most polarizing figure, Eva Perón remains a subject of admiration and debate. Personal artifacts, opulent gowns, and historic footage offer insight into her complex legacy. End the day at Teatro Colón, one of the world’s premier opera houses. Known for its remarkable acoustics and grand Italianate façade, it has hosted artists such as Plácido Domingo and Kiri Te Kanawa. If attending a performance, experience the venue’s splendor firsthand. In the evening for a hands-on experience, try making Argentina’s most beloved street food: empanadas. Learn about different fillings, practice the art of crimping, and enjoy a fun cooking session at Montecarlo—perfect for families and friends.

Tigre & Delta of Parana River - Flatboat Ride

From the city center it's a 50-minute drive north to reach Tigre, a vast region spread over 5,400sq m. Here, the Parana River flows down into the Rio de la Plata in the form of a delta, creating countless sedimentary islands that are carpeted in lush forest and grassland. Listen to our expert guide as they tell us all about the exotic flora and fauna that thrive here, and the people who made this natural wonderland their home. You will encounter riverside villas, Victorian docks, English gardens, traditional rowing clubs and the Museo de Arte de Tigre, encased in a beautiful Belle Epoque building. Then enjoy a ride on board Afrodita, an old island flatboat to the Tigre Delta river, a labyrinth of rivers and streams waiting to be explored. The boat was initially used to transport barrels for a distillery. In the 90’s it was recycled as an entertainment boat with a new cabin and bathrooms. In April 2013, it was restored and refurbished respecting its original spirit and the details of a Delta flatboat. It is ideal to sail shallow rivers and streams due to its flat bottom, hence its popular name “chata palera” (flat-bottomed freight boat.)

    Activities at La Sofia

At the foot of the Andes, surrounded by towering mountains, winding rivers, and open steppes, Estancia La Sofía offers a secluded retreat in Southern Patagonia. Just 90 miles from El Calafate, it provides a chance to experience the region’s natural beauty away from the crowds. One option is a two- to three-hour horseback ride to the Lake Viedma viewpoint, where the Andes, Fitz Roy and Torre massifs, Lake Viedma, and Guanaco Valley stretch out in every direction. Another is a trek to Blue Lake in Guanaco Section at Glaciers National Park. Following a short introduction, the six- to seven-hour hike (moderate difficulty) leads through one of the park’s least-traveled trails, offering rare solitude and a peaceful lunch stop by the lake’s shore. For those seeking a full day of riding, a seven- to eight-hour journey leads deep into one of the region’s most remote areas, where shepherds use seasonal cottages to monitor livestock in high-altitude grasslands. Alternatively, half- or full-day hikes provide the opportunity to explore the estancia on foot while taking in sweeping views of the surrounding landscape.

Activities at La Sofia Day Two

Your second day at La Sofia is another chance to make use of the activities that were available the previous day. This still includes:  Taking a ride to Lake Viedma´s viewpoint. It is a ride between 2 to 3 hours where you will enjoy a full panoramic view of the Andes and Fitz Roy/Torre massif. Lake Viedma and Guanaco valley can also be appreciated at its best from this viewpoint.  You can also visit Guanaco Section at Glaciers National Park: in the Park, and after a short explanation, you will enjoy an amazing trek to Blue Lake. This is an easy to moderate level walk that might demand 6 or 7 hours, with a lunch stop at the lake´s shore. This trail is one of the most hidden tours in all of the Park, so no human presence should be found. Just you and an amazing gift from nature. There is another full day ride, which might take up to 7 or 8 hours, discovering one of the wildest and less visited spots of the region: summer “puestos”. This places are just small cottages used by shepards  in summer so they can easily control the cattle. In these higher lands, animals find the best grasslands due to better water conditions.  Or simply just enjoy a half day or day hike to enjoy beautiful views of the place!

Fishing enthusiasts, rafters and paragliders alike are mesmerised by this beautiful lake. The afternoon will see you hiking the Tristeza Inlet lookout trail. This is an easy and well-travelled trail that ends on a beautiful granite dome with great vistas of the neighboring glaciated Tronador Peak, and a 12-mile-long and narrow inlet.
