    Itinerary at a Glance

Arrival in Bucharest. Your personal driver will escort you to your hotel and give you a short welcome to Bucharest.
The capital of Romania offers a combination of modern and art nouveau architecture, with splendid 17-18th century villas tucked away in hidden corners and innovative museums and quaint cafes.
The rest of the day is for you to relax and settle in at leisure or to start exploring the city. The perfect place to start is the famous Parliament Palace, one of the largest buildings in Europe and maybe the biggest tribute to the communism area and the dictator Ceausescu. Then you can explore the Old Town, filled with lively restaurants and cozy boutique shops, where you will discover the Romanian lifestyle.

After breakfast, meet your driver guide and make your way to Transylvania.
Your first stop is Sinaia, to visit the Peles Castle – one of the best preserved royal castles in Europe.
Continue your journey with the most famous attraction in Romania, Bran Castle, known worldwide as Dracula’s Castle. Spend your afternoon in the magical Brasov. Explore the city on a private walking tour of the best sights, including the Old Town and the Black Church - the main Gothic style monument in the country.

After breakfast, you will arrive in Sighisoara, a city full of history. The wonderful medieval citadel, which is still inhabited, is a beauty for the eyes, with its colorful local houses and cobbled little streets. Enjoy lunch at a countryside resort, in a gorgeous and relaxing setting, where your own traditional costumes will be awaiting for you. Just like tradition, you will be welcomed with salt and bread and treated with a fantastic folkloric demonstration that you don't want to miss. Join in on the dancing and taste the authentic delicacies, unique worldwide.

In the afternoon, visit another Transylvanian city, Sibiu. Hear the legends behind the Bridge of Lies, walk through some of the narrowest streets in Europe and find more about this splendid medieval city.

    Alba Iulia
Today will take you to Alba Iulia, to visit the largest citadel in Romania.
With a bit of luck you can see the changing of the guards, a tradition sacredly kept by the locals. Troops from the city's infantry, cavalry and artillery divisions, dressed in their traditional military costumes and armed with torches and pride will fill the streets of the citadel and put on a show like no other.  They will bring history alive right before your eyes, with reenactments of the battles between the Roman Empire soldiers and the native Dacians which are said to have formed this nation.
Afternoon at leisure back in Sibiu.

    Targu Mures

After breakfast, continue your journey to the city of Turda, famous for its incredible Salt Mine, with underground lakes and themed parks.
Spend your morning in the underground of the Salt Mine, breathing in the healthy, salty air and going on funny rides. Then you will be driven to Targu Mures. This is where you will discover the influence that the Austro-Hungarian Empire had on the country, with road signs in a different language and people still speaking Hungarian.  Although you're still in Romania, it does feel like a different country and it is fascinating!
    Afternoon at leisure.

Today you will fly to Budapest, the beautiful capital of Hungary.
Packed with incredible sights, intricately carved buildings and little colorful balconies, you definitely won't be bored! After check-in at your hotel, you can start exploring the city with a private guided walking tour. Cross the famous Freedom Bridge, which unites the two historic cities of Buda and Pest. You will then hop on the funicular to Buda Castle, which offers fantastic views and a stroll through the beautiful city center. Finish your day enjoying a drink at one of the many fashionable restaurants and cafes overlooking the Danube.

After breakfast, you will continue your exploration of Budapest. Start your day strolling Vaci Utca, the city's pedestrian shopping street. As you go pass boutique shops and little cafes, you will also find old fashioned bakeries where you can witness the making of Kurtos Kolacs - the traditional and delicious Hungarian cake. The warm smell of cinnamon will entice you and you will have to go in for a taste.
Continue to the Hungarian Parliament, the largest Gothic building in the country and one of Europe's oldest legislative building. Viewed from across the water, the sugar-white building is even more impressive in real life than in photos. Then you can cross the bridge again and climb Fisherman's Bastion, which offers sweeping views of the city. The Bastion was built to celebrate the Hungarian State's 1000th anniversary and has been dominating the city's sky since then.
    Afternoon at leisure.

    Lake Balaton
Today depart to Assisi where you will explore the quaint hilltop birthplace of St. Francis that still retains some of the atmosphere from the early 1200’s. Contained within the huge 13th century Basilica are many of the Saint’s possessions and a series of frescoes depicting his life.
You will have the opportunity to stroll the medieval streets of the compact little town and go to the Church of St. Clare to see the Saint’s perfectly preserved skeleton. The founder of the Order of Poor Clares followed the teachings of St. Francis by living a life of poverty and humility.
Return to your hotel in Montefalco and have the rest of the day at leisure.

Today you will visit Székesfehérvár, the Hungarian capital in the Middle Ages. Admire the city center where many of the country’s kings were crowned and buried and enjoy the historic atmosphere surrounding the buildings and streets of the town.
Back in Budapest, it’s time you test the famous Hungarian spa baths!
